I have been so fortunate to have spent the last week in the Perigord / Dorgogne region of France on an artist retreat with ten other women. Five more glorious days remain until I head back home.
We have been taking daily excursions to local villages and breathtaking scenic spots. We’ve been Beynac chateau, where Richard Coeur de Leon spent some time after scaling the 200 meter cliff to invade the place, the way-better-than-Disney storybook village of Autoire with its soaring cliffs and winding alleys, each hiding tiny gardens surrounding quaint cottages made from the local stone, and Rocamadour, which sadly I missed because I just needed a damn nap!
The food at Perigord Retreats rivals some of the best restaurant fare I’ve ever eaten (seriously, no exaggeration, and y’all know I love good food) and our hosts are wonderfully warm and accommodating.
Oh, and, sure, I have been making a bit of art, but nothing ready for prime time yet. It is a challenge for me to share studio space with so many people, but the art vibe is strong and the laughter and friendship plentiful, and so, worthwhile. Meanwhile, I hope these photos will bring you on a vicarious trip with me.
I’ll share the work I’ve been doing upon my return!
Bonjour mes amis!
Cannot wait to hear all about your adventures! And get recipes for that great food and write down the names of all the good red wines!!
Oh! Oh! Oh! Thank you for this virtual trip! Stunning, magical, moving! (Sorry for all the exclamation points, but really - they are all necessary.)
