As an artist, I am constantly exploring new ways to express my creativity and push the boundaries of the expected. One of the best ways to do that is in sketchbook play, a place where I am the only audience and free to try and fail. My latest sketchbook drawing is an ink sketch of a female face superimposed on a pencil drawing of a another female head. I drew this as I was pondering the idea that we all have multiple perspectives (perhaps personalities?) and ways of seeing the world. Maybe even a third eye.
The focal point of the piece is the face drawn in black ink. The lines are clean and hard edged, capturing the delicate features of the face and expressing a sense ease and serenity. Upon closer inspection, the extra eyes and pencil drawing underneath give it a surreal and otherworldly appearance.
To add an extra layer of depth and movement to the piece, I decided to incorporate petal shapes colored in transparent pink. These shapes seem to me like windmill blades tilting the heads to the right, giving the piece a sense of movement and energy. The pink color also adds a sense of softness and femininity to the piece, softening the black ink.
Overall, this piece is a representation of the idea that there is always more to see and new ways to look at things. It is a reminder for me to keep an open mind and to never stop exploring and discovering new perspectives. I hope that this piece will inspire you to look at the world in a new way and to never stop seeing the beauty and wonder that surrounds us every day.
A beautiful introspective of where you are right now, right here in this creative world you have created for yourself. I adore her and all that she represents to you on your journey. Well done my friend.
